Help! Switzerland is Smothering Egypt With a Chocolate Festival!

The Swiss Embassy is inviting renowned chocolatier Romain Leemann to teach us the ways of chocolaterie for its chocolate festival!

Switzerland has been the underdog of Western countries since its neutrality was established in 1815, you just can’t see them coming. They fend off their enemies with weapons of mass deliciousness and heart-shaped brie cheese and chocolates, and they plan to invade Cairo and Alexandria with some of their national heartwarming delicacies this month.

The Swiss Embassy in Cairo is initiating the attack with a Chocolate Festival, hosting renowned chocolatier Romain Leemann who will be giving workshops and demonstrations to adults and children. The artist will also be unveiling a Sphinx sculpture made of 50 kg of dark chocolate.

The embassy is teaming up with Conrad Cairo, where the tasty event kicks off with a press conference on October 13th from 5 PM to 7 PM during which Leemann will reveal his much-anticipated artisanal creation. Then, from the 14th through the 15th, the master will show children and adults the ways of chocolaterie during special workshops and demonstrations at Solana restaurant.

The chocolate craze makes its way to Alexandria as the chocolatier is set to give chocolaterie workshops to children at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina on October 17 and 18, as well as “prepare a “chocolate corner at the Hilton Green Plaza Alexandria alongside the hotel chefs,” as per a press release by the embassy.

“Switzerland is globally renowned for its chocolate industry and we wish to share some of its gastronomical expertise in Egypt. The Chocolate Festival and Romain Leemann’s creations will add a special culinary dimension to the strong Egyptian-Swiss relations,” Switzerland’s Ambassador to Egypt Markus Leitner said.

We don’t know about you, but we are grabbing our fat pants and camping outside Conrad Cairo.
